Gilman Contemporary presents an exhibition of paintings by Jill Lear and new photographs by Dutch photographer Alex Timmermans. Jill Lear will be at the gallery opening night during gallery walk Friday, February 17, 5-8. Join us.
Jill Lear is a painter inspired by nature, landscapes and trees. Combining painting, drawing and collage, Lear’s images of trees are not studies in realism but rather recognizable abstract forms. Lear transcribes the experience of being in, and thinking about Nature, through her studies of trees.
Dutch photographer Alex Timmermans creates enchanting images using the collodion process. Like his fairytale images, the process he employs is the antithesis to predictability; little twists of fate coming together to create the final scene.
Exhibition runs January 25 – February 28, 2017
