Sun Valley has a well deserved reputation for world-class alpine skiing, but is also known as “Nordic Town USA” for having the best Nordic skiing in the US. In fact, it’s so good, members of the Norwegian Olympic Nordic Team have come to the valley to train.  With over 200 kilometers of superbly groomed trails and one of the country’s premier Nordic races, the Boulder Mountain Tour, Sun Valley has plenty to offer Nordic skiers and winter recreationists of all ages and abilities. There are plenty of other top-notch, yet affordable, recreational and cultural diversions.

As a way to showcase “Nordic Town USA”, the Sun Valley  Nordic Festival is a collaborative effort by a wide variety of groups, individuals and businesses to focus attention on the fantastic skiing opportunities of the Sun Valley area.  The 2017 Sun Valley Nordic Festival will kick off with the Nordic Town USA Town Sprints on Thursday, Feb. 2, Boulder Mountain Tour Expo and race packet pick up on Friday, Feb.3, celebrate the 42nd running of the world famous Boulder Mountain Tour on Saturday and wind down the events on Sunday with Demo Day at the Sun Valley Nordic Center.

Back by popular demand,  the Blaine County Recreation District will again offer a $49 – 9 day valley-wide ski trail pass good from January 28 through February 5.  Passes will be sold at Backwoods Mountain Sports, the Elephant’s Perch, Sturtevants, Sturtos in Hailey, Galena Lodge and the SNRA (Sawtooth National Recreation Area) offices north of Ketchum.

There is no better value anywhere in the Nordic ski world. So come to “Nordic Town USA” for the Sun Valley Nordic Festival.
